In response to clients’ demand for help in setting up effective and tax-efficient giving strategies, March saw Coutts enter into an agreement with New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) to provide research and advice to clients making large donations. This complements the special arrangements that are already in place with Community Foundation Network and Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
The three organizations will be working together to help Coutts’ clients increase the impact of their giving while taking care of all the associated administration, from defining charitable objectives and researching relevant charities to reclaiming tax on donations.
NPC is a non-profit organization that provides a combination of published research and tailored advice to donors. Coutts clients can now benefit from expert briefings on specific causes.
Community foundations are independent charities that focus on connecting donors with people and projects working to make the community a better place to live. Coutts clients will be introduced at director level to accredited advisers in England and Wales.
CAF provides a range of specialist services to donors, companies and charities in the UK and abroad. Coutts clients can take advantage of reduced fees for the CAF Charity Account and access CAF professionals who offer advice on the most effective ways to support their favourite causes.
Whereas Coutts Charitable Trust Service caters for people who want to set up a trust for over £250,000, the link with CAF and CFN enables Coutts to cater for clients who wish to give away much smaller amounts. Clients can set up a CAF Trust Account at Coutts for £10,000 and a CAF Charity Account for as little as £1,000.
Coutts also runs a series of philanthropy forums, which enable clients to network with other philanthropists and professional advisers. Coutts recently supported publication of A Guide to Giving by Philanthropy UK to help provide guidance and advice on other services for givers.
