Calls for a significant shift in the attitudes of both funders and voluntary sector if a sustainable financial base for the sector is to be developed. The author identifies three key issues that the UK-based National Council for Voluntary Organisation’s (NCVO) new funding commission must address: transforming the ‘behaviour’ of both funders and recipients of funding; urgently strengthening the focus of funding to a more even balance; and continuing to explore, even in the current financial climate, new ways of bringing resources into the sector.
