Dasra Philanthropy Week takes place in Mumbai from 19 to 21 March 2015. The opening day will focus on corporate social responsibility and girls’ empowerment, and the remaining days will concentrate on exploring the topic of governance. Now in its sixth year, Dasra Philanthropy Week will attract social sector leaders, philanthropists, corporates, foundations and government officials.
Governance is an issue that cuts across the entire spectrum of government and non-government delivery systems, encompassing all sectors within the socioeconomic, legal and political arenas.
A Governance – good to great report recently launched by Dasra will set the stage for creating awareness, driving urgency and highlighting the role of funders and the social sector in enabling the governance leap in India. To achieve the scale of transformation needed, the report suggests four key themes that require closer focus: developing media as a key stakeholder; strengthening local governance; advancing women-centred leadership; and leveraging the power of technology. The report also highlights the work of several non-profit organizations that are positively contributing to governance in their respective focus areas.
