On 29 and 30 March, the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi), backed by the Alianza por la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial en México (AliaRSE), organized the Fourth Latin American Meeting for Socially Responsible Corporations in Mexico City.
During the meeting, Cemefi awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Seal (CSR Seal) to 572 corporations operating in Mexico. The CSR Seal (pictured) is a recognition of social commitment in four areas: quality of life within the corporation, business ethics, care and preservation of the environment, and community outreach. This year, of those 572, 202 were SMEs.
Jorge Villalobos Grzybowicz, Cemefi’s executive president, pointed out that, more than recognition, the CSR Seal is a reminder for corporations of the responsibility they have to better serve society through their products and services. He added that, in order to encourage more corporations to adopt CSR as a business model, recognized corporations must become its main promoters.
The Recognition of Exemplary Corporations for their CSR in Latin America was also awarded during the meeting. This was established in 2008 to distinguish the efforts of corporations committed to CSR in the region. Cemefi, AliaRSE and Forum Empresa gave the Recognition to 27 corporations.
