Over three days delegates and speakers from the UK and around the world explored the challenges facing our communities and how local philanthropy can drive and support change both now and in the future.
To get to the future, we must get through now
What will the future look like for our communities into the 2030s and beyond: that was the vision UKCF CEO Rosemary Macdonald put to the several hundred gathered at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester last week. Delegates at this year’s UKCF comprised representatives from community foundations across the country – but also included a sizeable international contingent, thanks to scholarships from the Mott Foundation enabling participants to travel from Africa, Latin America, Australia, and Eastern Europe.

For the people, by the people
As a Philanthropy Support Organisation, CivSource Africa is on the cusp of starting work to support community foundations in Uganda to thrive. Thus, it was with anticipation, excitement and curiosity, that I attended the UKCF. I was excited to learn from and meet other organisations in the philanthropy ecosystem.

Community foundations and the future of local communities
UKCF 2022 went global. Participants from all continents came together with UK community foundations to reflect on the future of a world that keeps surprising us. A global pandemic, economic crises, climate change, migration, an emerging energy crisis, and war – in Ukraine and in many other places around the planet – all took us by surprise.

Reflections from UKCF Conference 2022
Manchester – this is the place where the UK Community Foundations Conference ‘Acting now to shape tomorrow’ took place and community foundation representatives from all over Europe (Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain) and other parts of the world (Mexico, USA, South Africa, Australia) joined in.
