Sarajevo is set to host to a conference delving into peace, justice and democracy.
The Philanthropy East Forum, formerly Grantmakers East Forum, will explore the current times of uncertainty and increasing unpredictability. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has exposed how civil society organisations and communities can play in building peace, ensuring justice, and defending democracy and democratic values.
The event will take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), from 24-26 September and is organised by Philea, Europe’s leading philanthropy support organisation.
Panel discussions over the two day conference include the role of AI in democracy, supporting community resilience in Ukraine, and how funders can respond to the weakening of the rule of law globally.
In May this year, the National Foundation for Civil Society Development in Croatia joined forces with Philea that included discussions looking at making space for young voices in philanthropy.
Discussions are set to continue in the same vein at the upcoming Sarajevo conference.
