ELLAS-Women and Philanthropy has launched a new initiative to identify and increase the visibility of the role of women in community philanthropy across Latin America and in the Latino communities in the United States.
With the support of the Global Fund for Community Foundations, the initiative has two main components: the production of a book containing 30 stories of women leaders mobilising resources in innovative ways in local communities, and the first Latin American award on philanthropy called ‘Mujeres Generosas’ consisting of a $1,000 prize and the publication of their stories in the book.
ELLAS-Women and Philanthropy was created in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2014 by a group of activists and thinkers with the aim of supporting the role of women in Latin American philanthropy through training, building of giving circles, raising awareness and advocacy.
The deadline for nominations is 15 March 2019 and the winner will be announced in April.
