The China-Italy Philanthropy Forum hosted by China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI), TOChina Hub, and China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) brought together representatives from politics, philanthropy, business, arts, and academia from both countries to start a new collaboration to promote the common development of philanthropy.
The event saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of China-Italy Philanthropy Forum witnessed by Chairman Xi Jinping and Italian Prime minister Giuseppe Conte, for the long-term cooperation in the field of philanthropy. The forum’s participants also explored the opportunities and challenges facing cooperation between China and Italy in philanthropic innovation.
This MoU was only one of the 19 co-contracted projects that were signed, including the establishment of the ‘East-West Philanthropy Circle’ focusing on the joint action of the world’s philanthropic families and ‘International Philanthropic Circle’ focusing on uniting the world’s young philanthropists to innovate for good.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Global Philanthropy Institute, Ma Weihua said ‘Faced with the amazing historical heritage, let’s think about such problems: how to interpret history, how to think about the present, how to better combine ancient and modern, classic and innovative, and how to promote the sustainable development of philanthropy in cultural exchanges.’
Ma Weihua pointed out at the summit that philanthropists of both countries should use the forum platform to ‘create experience, learn from each other, strengthen exchanges of East-West philanthropy cases and talent training, use financial leverage to stimulate philanthropy resources, and integrate social resources, so that more people will be subsidized and more social problems solved’.
