The 2024 edition of the KoneKtor – Philanthropy East Forum, formerly Grantmakers East Forum, titled “Dialogue, Democracy and Diversity” will be hosted by Porticus in Prague, Czechia, from the 23rd to 25th of September. 

“In an era marked by deepening polarisation, fractured communities, and escalating distrust, it is imperative now more than ever to closely examine these challenges and develop viable solutions. With democracy and civil society facing persistent threats, the philanthropic sector must understand its unique role in fostering social cohesion, bridging divides, and innovating ways to maintain connection during times of turbulence and numerous crises”.

Building on last year’s examination of peace, justice and democracy, the forum will analyse the growing rates of political polarisation and investigate the role of foundations in bridging divides and supporting resilience during times of social fragmentation.

“The time is now for foundations to take a unanimous stand as stewards of civil society, support for social interaction, facilitators of citizen empowerment, and promoters of democracy and fundamental rights.”
