Alliance editor Charles Keidan gives a special preview of the launch of June issue of our publication, focusing on philanthropy infrastructure.
In our new issue, we look in depth at philanthropy infrastructure which is guested edited by Benjamin Bellegy of WINGS Maria Chertok from CAF Russia. As the infrastructure space heats up, with many different players coming into the field, we debate the key issues shaping the future development of philanthropy around the world.
We include perspectives from leading infrastructure funders such as the Mott Foundation in Michigan and Potanin Foundation in Moscow. We talk to Olivia Leland, the founding director of the Gates-Buffett Giving pledge and guiding force behind Co-Impact a major initiative to change systems and achieve ‘philanthropy at scale’. We profile pioneers of philanthropy infrastructure, feature the breadth of organisations serving philanthropy and the discuss the challenges facing the field. Lucy Bernholz at Stanford University highlights why philanthropy need to adjust to the digital revolution, while Jenny Hodgson in South Africa discusses the need for philanthropy to tap into and develop local structures and cultures of giving. Meanwhile David Bonbright makes the case for a better infrastructure for evaluating impact.
Elsewhere in the issue we continue our informative round-up of philanthropy news across the world, showcase the new Democracy and Solidarity Fund for Europe and speak to the philanthropist pioneering a unique blend of tea philanthropy and venture philanthropy in Africa.
