Aga Khan Foundation partners with Pakistani bank to combat the legacy of last summer’s devastating floods.

The Aga Khan Foundation has partnered with Bank Alfalah, one of Pakistan’s largest commercial banks, to provide essential health services to communities still suffering from widespread flooding.

In a statement on their website, the foundation said it will begin with improving both the “accessibility and efficiency” of health services “specifically tailored for those affected”.

“Another objective is to enhance access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure for these communities, ensuring better living conditions and hygiene practices,” it added.

Ban Alfalah donated PKR 200 million (US $700,000).

The floods of 2022 affected up to 33 million people, damaging 2 million homes and killing more than 1,700 people.

More recent floods and landslides, triggered by monsoon rains since 25 June, have killed at least 50 people.
