The Africa Funding Landscape, a group of funders focused on Africa, conducted a report aimed at studying the what, how and why of current funding targeting in Africa. The report is based on a survey of private and public funders headquartered in North America, Africa and other regions.
The report was inspired by what the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group (AGAG) describes as the diverse set of grantmakers who target a broad array of priorities. According to AGAG, over 50 per cent of survey respondents proved support for at least two issue areas, specified populations and/or countries or regions.
Niamani Mutima, Executive Director of AGAG states, ‘The survey is one of a series of activities we have embarked on leading up to our 20th Anniversary Conference in May 2020. We wanted to capture a snapshot of trends in the field and gain a better understanding of attitudes and interests among those funding in Africa.’
