How photography can express humanity’s desire to work for the common good

Philanthropic endeavour embraces a great breadth of human activity – as the images on these pages testify. Each is a winning entry to Focus: Philanthropy, a Europe-wide competition organised by Dafne to celebrate ‘unique stories of solidarity connected to key European policy areas such as climate, social Europe, research, and international cooperation’. The competition, which Alliance has been showcasing through 2021, attracted visual stories from across the continent. Featured here are the final three of five winning entries which ‘shed light on ordinary citizens driven by their passion for the common good’.
