In an article dated 1 July, Chilean sociologist Gonzalo Delamaza argues that ‘it is necessary to reaffirm the importance of the commitment of the state (not only the government) with the development and strengthening of civil society and its organizations, with total autonomy and devoid of political parties, in a perspective of strengthening democracy while incrementing pluralism and diversity.’ In this manner, the shadows of suspicion that currently weigh on the administration of the Fund for Civil Society Strengthening can be cleared by the Chilean government.
